Lorna Davidson , Deputy Director of The Trust kindly agreed to a half hour meeting at New Lanark on Friday 6th March 2009. She also accepted the invitation to receive the letter which appears in full below. The Trust has its own website.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Utopia?

In Jesus Name. Amen. (Our Lord’s Will Be)

This epistle invites The Trust to lose all sight of the familiar shore, and thus to trust itself. Namely to be involved in a 21st century Covenant with our Creator The Lord Jesus Christ [at New Lanark* during Blossom Time 2010]. This in contrast to the 1997 Kyoto political Summit which resulted in the Kyoto Dis-agreement on climate change – "The Kyoto Protocol".

* The internet version of this letter now refers to the Covenant as taking place "in Scotland -- as Kairos". It has therefore no temporal date or location assigned to it.

Preamble

To Be or not to Be – Therein the answer lies, or does it tell The Truth?
Utopia is not a place, time, or set of circumstances. Neither is it of humanity. It is a state of Being.

Trust

A gift of The Heart Always a sharing
A Muse of The Soul Never a’wearing
A Blessing Almost a hearing --
Sometimes in disguise Deep within --
Sometimes a surprise. The sigh of The Heart.

Our Present Times

These are best described by the poet W.B. Yeats in his work “The Second Coming” of which a copy is attached. The intellect, as the brain child of the human ego is not capable of Spiritual discernment.

Let us take as an example a situation near to home – The Royal Bank of Scotland. This bank “issue” is perceived as a set of temporal circumstances brought about by the hand of man. The reaction of those involved? Indifference – the anathema of Love. We consider the strange details of the case which do not originate in the human will. The Government enquiry produced – an apology! The FSA was not aware of any discretionary element on the part of the bank to the astronomic pension figure awarded to the chief executive. This for any performance level; let alone gross failure! He subsequently refused to give back “one penny” of his pension for life -- at the age of fifty! Too late the discretionary element became known. The bank losses were the largest in the history of UK banking. The outcome? Misery for thousands of staff and wholesale public alarm, with the taxpayer including the unemployed staff paying billions to keep the bank in business.

This is but a small part of the complete breakdown not only of Scottish society, but global society, as we presently understand the term. It is part of a spiritual attack on our country of Scotland. The objective is to break the Spirit of our fledgling nation state as the earnest of a re-united Great Britain. The inclusion of a global perspective requires us to address the age-old question “What’s it all about?”. Life that is. To answer this we turn (or is it return?) to human ecology. The derivative “eco” having the meaning “home”.

Human Ecology and Robert Owen.

My dictionary defines human ecology as “the study of the interaction of people with their environment”. The environment is defined as “the totality of the physical conditions upon the earth”. Thus the intellect exercising its own finitude excludes Holy Spirit as part of the totality of the human environment. That is to say much the greater part. This is a denial of the human constitution as Spirit, Soul and physical body. We are thus perceived as a walking brain which in the absence of any “other” must therefore have created itself. This was Robert Owen’s dilemma as a humanist and in part the cause of his lack of success with his broader manifesto for a new global society – a Cosmic concept, and thus not solely a physical issue.

The fundamental question is therefore not what is utopia, but Who is Utopia? The latter addresses the total environment of the human being. Aside from this all else is relative commentary. We accept that R.O. acted in good faith with the best of intentions. What of faith however? “The substance of what we hope for, the evidence of Who (what) we cannot see!”
In whom or what did Robert Owen base his faith? What was his faith?

Utopia – Back to the Future or Forward to the Past?

The dictionary definition of utopia is “an imagined perfect place or state of things. Title of a book by Thomas Moore (1516). From ou “not” + topos “place”.

If not of “place” then not of time, as place is subject to time in as much as the planet is finite in means and existence. The dictionary describes this state of Being as imaginary. An “image”is based upon the original as in a photographic negative. The intellect only sees its own image -- in time! Thus there is no human solution to our present times either political or scientific. Therefore the need of humanity is Covenance and Monarchy arising there from. Such was / is Melchizedek having no mother or father, no beginning or end. Utopia is The Love of God.

We do not seek to study mortal love, nor feel any need to prove to another that this is what we experience from and to our beloved. What then of “Utopian Studies”?

In his book “Sovereignty – An Enquiry into the Political Good” (p 320) Bertrand de Jouvenel states that (earthly) “utopia imagines a paradise of liberty for all, and yet most political actions based upon this hypothesis have resulted ultimately in tyrannical regimes. This is because the hypothesis assumes an internal principle of action which is the same for all and sways completely the conduct of each. Since this principle is constantly found wanting the step is but a short one to forcing everyone to behave as if he or she was influenced by this principle. The result is a structure which is exactly the opposite to what its builders claimed for it.”

Thus we see the self-imprisonment of the intellect in its own finitude swimming in the ocean of Infinity, like the tadpole in a large pond. What of the Prince however, once the frog comes ashore?

R.O. looked forward to the new millennium anticipating a global change in society. This aspect of his vision was correct. Utopia has to be fought for, to the death if necessary. He envisaged man creating as far as possible an ideal future by learning from the environment of the present. This is but one dimension of Cosmos. The seed of the present and thus of the future is the past. Thus we must look into the past of our own inheritance both physical and Spiritual if we (?) are to create what the intellect perceives as the future. The only way to thus address the (total) Environment is by Covenance as in Biblical times. Humanity cannot address the “present” not of, but as global climate change, far less create the environment of an earthly utopia! Utopia is of God! A literal Heaven on Earth, but not of earth. This Utopia is “impossible” as a human being, but not for a human being. To Covenant is to be called and addressed by God as a community local, national or global.

Thus our first step is forward, to the past; as distinct from back to the future. In the temporal we cannot go back. If we could the intention would be to change the past with our 20/20 vision and thus attempt to alter how the future “works out”. Thus we simply duplicate our mistakes in a different guise, as we have not changed. We are still ego based however well intentioned. To Covenant is to become the change we need as humanity within our True Selves as Spirit Beings. This is to be changed by the Environment, not the other way round. Owen, despite appearances went back to the future as “his” spirit had changed in the wrong direction. He was thus still ego driven. The word ego is not necessarily used to mean egotistical. To be loyal to the hallowed memory of the past is to be possessed by the future. That is Eden as Utopia. Creation and re-Creation is in the imagination -- of God.

Scotland and Montegro in Covenance with our Lord Jesus Christ

There is no such thing as evolution even in the physical. Creation is not of time. Continues.

Robert Owen’s vision, and the present day Spiritual community of New Lanark has brought into being the environment for an Act of Covenance at New Lanark. A brief outline of some of the details additional to those described in Current Issue No.12 are given in the remainder of this section.

This is the year of the Scottish Executive “Homecoming” which is a commercial venture. Part of this is a Gathering of representatives of The Clans of which no more need be said. There will also be a Convention of Clan Chiefs the purpose is to discuss the role of the Clans in the 21st century. The Gathering is a repetition of the past; the Convention is the Hand of God. Amen.

(a) Scotland.

 1.The heritage of the Scottish Clan system will be resurrected in the context of this century and millennium. This will include women    and children.
  2. The Way” is Biblical Wisdom, taught by Jesus and given to John from the Cross by Jesus as his Mother.

  3. Wisdom will Bless the Assembly. This concerns Cosmogeny as distinct from purely Cosmology.
  3 We recall Jesus words “I come not to bring peace (initially) but the Sword.
  4 Scotland has two outstanding paintings of Christ. John of The Cross" in Glasgow and "The Man of Sorrows" by William Bryce in        T he National Gallery in Edinburgh. The latter together with the text on the frame can be viewed in the picture gallery on the Wind of     Change website. It depicts Jesus in the Scottish Highlands.
 

(b) Montenegro

Please see Current Issue No 12 , Sections 5 to 6b on this website for the basis upon which Scotland and Montenegro will work as One.  The original letter summarised Japan's relation with Scotland. This error was the result of the sin of egotism of the site steward Ian McLean in his assumption of The Holy Spirit's Will.

This Act of Covenance will Realise Robert Owen’s vision, or was it a dream? Was / is it of the past or the future? That is not up to The New Lanark Trust to decide. It is simply Trust in God. Not for ourselves, but for God. Thus and thus only are we enabled to lose all sight of the familiar shore -- of the intellect. Yes, we shall be seasick. Let our Heart be focussed upon the far distant shore – within! Amen.

Conclusion

When the link on The Wind of Change website to the New Lanark website is used the first screen to appear refers to “The New Millennium Experience”. It shows a teenage young lady stepping out from a large clock face. Her posture and dress resemble that of a ballerina. It is left to the viewer to discern her nationality.


Most of us would say that to become a ballerina one first of all acquires a pair of dancing pumps. Then we do the work of training, then we become a ballerina. That is to say have, do, and be – in that order. This is a desire; thus the clock is turned back.

Humanity’s need is first and foremost of the Heart. Therein we are already ballerinas!

Therefore AS (not when) we Realise this Dream of firstly Be-ing a ballerina, then doing the training we shall have the Joy of serving humanity through the Beauty not of our dance, but of The Dance. That is: Be, do, and then have. Thus we realise not our future, not the future,
but Eternity - as Utopia! Amen.
