Please read the attached work of Muse entitled “The Elysian Beach” before proceeding, thank you. This communication seeks your assistance regarding the forthcoming 21st century Covenant, as in Covenanter. Hence the work of Muse.
You have the title of Duke; your name is James Graham, my name is Ian McLean. You are addressed as a human being; the Chief of Clan Graham; a member of The House of Lords, and opposition spokesman on (for?) Scotland, in that order. I am aware these epistles could be perceived as an unsolicited wad of paper. That is no concern of mine in either sense of the word “concern”. It may be helpful to regard them as a non-fiction book.
Clauses 6a and 6b of the second enclosure to this letter entitled “An Open Letter to The Flag in the Wind” is of most direct relevance to the epistle addressed to you.

1. Preamble
The dream is not reality. Rather our personal history is surely a deep and continuous conversation with God concerning who we Really are resulting in our actions and omissions, beneficial or destructive, both personally and nationally. As we know within a community these actions and omissions may affect the life of others and thus the entire earthly community. Common Unity however is the Consciousness of God of Whom earthly community is but a dim reflection. Consciousness is the Child of Identity.
This epistle is radical. It does not advocate insurrection, but resurrection! To enter the (political) arena is to do battle and thus to lose, particularly when the perception is that of victory. Evil sets its self apart by it own malformed identity arising from its chosen path. It cannot stand upon The Holy Ground. The first Marquis knew this. He also knew the temporal consequences, but was mindful of his Soul.
Historical Clan chiefs led their troops in battle and thus set aside their rights -- to earthly life which is a gift – of God! What example will today’s Chiefs give to the Clansfolk both women and men as part of the broader community? We are mindful of the “inheritance” of vast tracts of church lands by historical chiefs and of the karmic outworking in our present times. We do not speak of the Church temporal.
2 The Global Predicament (See the enclosure “The Second Coming” by W.B. Yeats.)
The ills of humanity and hence planet earth arise from the outworking of the Biblical Fall. Therefore we are concerned in these times with the karmic relationship between humanity and planet earth, and thus with the continuing evolution of humanity which is a Spiritual Blessing (not a process). Therefore there is no earthly (political) solution. Rather we speak of God’s Resolution. The latter being the resolve and outworking of God AS Reality. The illusion of chaos is now perceived to be exponential giving rise to a sense of progressive helplessness and depravity.
Thus, the first Ordinance of Resolution is Covenance. The admission and acceptance by humanity of wrong doing in its God Gifted role as Stewardess and Steward of the Gift of Planet Earth. Witness the spirit of the recent apology of our banking executives and the extent of their demonstrable acceptance of the need to redeem themselves in part by their future actions or omissions!
3 Temporal and Spiritual Monarchy
(A) Temporal monarchy: In the book “George Buchanan’s Law of Kingship”, the author, tutor to James 1st of Scotland states that the function of monarchy is to “preserve human society”. This is indeed a significant statement. The pivotal word here is “human” which can be taken casually in the context of the statement. However, the inference stated or otherwise is that a human being can preserve not just society, but human life! If society is not preserved it follows that chaos “reigns” thus human life comes to an end. Chaos being the antithesis of society as our Lord Jesus Wills as human evolution. This re-Created Being may be called Homo Spiritus – the second Eve and Adam.
Thus Buchanan’s statement is an impossibility, as humanity cannot maintain itself far less redeem itself. This implies that humanity is its own Creator and thus re-Creator.
Temporal monarchy was founded upon violence and maintained by the feudal including judicious marriage etc. Today it is but a figurehead maintained by vested interests political and otherwise. Originally embracing a monarch said to have been elected by the people. Which people? Usually intent upon maintaining the bloodline as an earthly reflection of immortality, and accumulating vast personal reserves – in fear! The whole on occasion attempting to spiritually enslave the people by a claim to Divine Right. Today it is supported by vast personal financial investments
As Divinity is Unity, it (is it an it?) has no need to claim anything. Indeed it cannot, as by definition there is no “other” upon whom to make this or any other claim! Thus the articulation of such a claim is self evidently void. Amen.
Is the writer as distinct from the author a Monarchist? In Jesus Name and therefore in the Gift of Grace alone, most definitely!
(B) Spiritual Monarchy. That of The Christ – within. Such is The Way as preached by Jesus. Such was and always will be Melchizedek “having no father or mother, no beginning or end”. Of the same Order but subordinate to our Lord Jesus. No more need be said other than to confirm the Biblical statement “ye are kings”.
4 The Highland Chief / Clan Heritage.
What follows is not stated emotively, simply as fact.
Spiritually the Scottish Clan (family) is not a system but a Blessing as a reflection of The Tribes of Israel. Israel being The Christ not a nation state. The Lion of Judah!. Such is the significance of the Monarch’s personal standard, the Lion Rampant.
The first Marquis of Montrose as a Monarchist and Covenanter, raised this standard in battle. The present temporal monarch of Britain is the bearer of this standard for, but not on behalf of Scotland. All family members within the earthly family unit; civic communities; national associations or nations themselves should have a democratic voice. This is rarely the case. Highland Clans as distinct Clan Associations have a vast potential for resurrection of community in this regard and thus the Creation of Scotland as a nation state. This as the earnest of a re-United Kingdom of the British Isles.
Going back to the first international Clan gathering centred upon Edinburgh Castle in 1973 – what has changed? What is likely to change at this year’s Clan Convention? I assume sir (this term is used respectfully) you recall the 1973 event in detail. John Prebble the author addressed a meeting in Edinburgh during the Gathering which he recounts in his book “Prebble’s Scotland” on pages 101/2 and page 199. No more need be said.
5 The Clan Graham.
A clan chief’s need as distinct from her of his right, is to “die” for the (not her or his) Clan and thus be reborn as the leader thereof . The first Marquis was a prime example of this Truth in the temporal domain. His clan was the nation of Scotland of which he was a servant and leader in that order. His armorial standard was The Lion Rampant, the monarch’s personal standard. This is also the symbol of The Lion of Judah, Jesus Christ who died for his global clan. The Bible tells us “ye are kings”. The first Marquis knew this and in the gift of Grace alone he acted as such right to the end – or was it a beginning? He lived as Reality as distinct from illusion. All else of life’s history is relative commentary. The Clan motto is “do not forget”. This begs the question “forget what?”. In these times there is only one answer – The King! Amen.
This answer merged with the first Marquis’s personal motto of “no middle way” is the very stuff of Resurrection both personal and national. Amen.
The first Marquis marked his three main campaigns with the symbol of three scallop shells. This form of shell is associated with Venus arising from the ocean and thus to the Divine Feminine. Earthly campaigns are within the Soul as the Prodigal daughter and son.
Returning not to beg but to claim their birthright by action, not by words, thoughts or indifference. The latter being the very anathema of Love! The campaign as Prodigal is within. It is not travelled on earth -- for personal power, glory, self preservation of status, personal “rights” as perceived by the intellect alone, or lands.
The clan Arms portray a heron being killed by a bird of prey. I read that this is regarded as topical today in as much as the heron interferes with the fish stock on the clan beats, and that each Chief must re-interpret the Emblem. Surely the heron has equal rights in the river as it is no threat except to present day sport. The opportunity cost of the loss of the heron is the delight of watching it’s flight. Rather resurrect the Phoenix within oneself and thus in society and the Church Spiritual. Therfore throughout all Scotland! This is what the first Marquis died for. His calling was not of earthly time. It is this same Calling which is now made to today’s Tribes of Scotland. This is to speak of the Calling of the Clans (childern) of Israel – that is Our Lord Jesus Christ. Such is the birthright inheritance of the fledgling nation state of 21st century Scotland as a Spiritual world leader (not temporal) together with others.
What of present day leaders (?) of the Clans -- as distinct from Clan chiefs?
The Gaelic meaning of the name Donald as in Clan Donald is “world ruler”. That says it all! The historic (?) self styled “Lord of The Isles”. There is only one Lord of The Isles. Historically Finlaggan was subordinate to Rome. This spirituality has recently manifested in the temporal at Finlaggan. The last of the historical line bowed the knee to the King of England at Ardtornish Castle having bargained for personal interest. We are familiar with the apparent epitaph of the Lord of The Isles in the words “There is no Joy without Clan Donald”. The quote continues with the words “There is no power without Clan Donald. Whose power is referred to in these words? The true statement is that there is only a corrupt earthly power not without, but outwith The Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. What of the Clan which is a collective Spirit of all members of Whom the chief is but one, holding the office of servant, not ruler – in fear!
My own Clan, McLean has its internal battles for control of cadet branches arising from patriarchal centralised rulership as distinct from leadership. The Council is exclusive and has members who style themselves not simply “reverend”, but “very reverend”. A courtesy title? Let us see how easily it is given up in Kirk and Clan! Let “major” also serve as minor. Common Unity addresses itself with equal respect and recognition which is outwith and without rank or rancour.
The chief is only such because of the existence of the Clan, not the other way around. The spirit of the chief left the clans after Culloden. The invention of modern tartans and “Highland” dress by the Clan chiefs working with English mill owners sealed the fate of the clans -- that is the clans women, men and children. The clans were thus re-invented by the Chiefs to serve the chiefs. Since that time the Spirit of the clan has thus been independent of, and thus not dependent upon the chief. The pendulum now reverses its path through time. Amen.
6. Covenance
Only two nations have Covenanted. Biblical Israel, and Scotland. A Biblical Covenance is not a contract, pact, agreement or edict. It is between God and humanity and manifests in and therefore through the Heart alone. The National Covenant of Scotland was between men and the spirit of the age.
A full definition of the former is given in section 6b of Current Issue No12 on The Wind of Change website at www.wind-of-change.co.uk . The people are called by God to the place of Covenance where God’s Ordinance is delivered by The Holy Spirit. The Scottish National “covenant” was a contract drafted by the intellect and manifest on paper.
Man’s commitment although in good faith resulted in mutual abuse and violence between the warring factions in which the monarch was involved. It was thus an expression of man’s desires not the nations ultimate needs.
Biblical Covenants are ordained by God. Therefore God’s Ordinance is not known to the people until they are assembled by Her / His Calling of the human Spirit to the place of Covenance. Thus the first of God’s requirements is an act of faith on the part of humanity. The Covenant has no earthly signature. It has no beginning or end. The Witness is God Almighty. Amen. The need of the Soul is that the flesh fall on its knees before God as the expression of Her / His Gift of Meekness in the Biblical sense of this term. The signature is thus manifest in God’s action through the earthly vessel who is increasingly bound to Her / Him on the march not to battle and death, but to Life. To do battle is to give cognisance to an enemy and thus to lose before we start. The enemy is the self! We maintain The Holy Ground in the Gift of Grace alone, as Christ within. Thus and thus only do we live The Live Long Day.
The Calling of a nation to Biblical Covenance is also the calling of that nation to (its) Destiny. Thus it is a Chosen nation and therefore the servant of other nations. Colin Kidd in his book “Subverting Scotland’s Past” refers to Scotland as a chosen nation. We speak here of God’s Ordinances as distinct from man made clauses. Bertrand de Jouvenel in his book “Sovereignty – An Enquiry into the Political Good” states that “the Wand is the precursor (progenitor) of all weapons and tools”. Such a Wand is part of the Scottish Regalia. It hangs on a wall display cabinet and is rightly not part of the main display case of man made baubles of which the crown is not the most spiritually significant. Walter Scott was a babe in arms in this regard. George Buchanan, tutor to James 6th stated that the function of kings was the preservation of human society. This is not a mortal role. Seeing is not believing – feeling as Heart is believing as Truth.
Covenance is not a bond, pact, agreement, contract or commitment. It does not demand detachment from earthly life. It does require non-attachment however. The latter is Spiritual. Today’s global predicament (or is it an invitation?) is that of the time of the first Marquis transposed into the 21st century . The issues were and remain Spiritual and are thus not of earth other than in their outworking. Amen. Therefore there is no earthly solution, only the Resolution of God Almighty! That is to say, re-Creation.
7. The Significance of 2009 / 2010
For Scotland and the Clans
This year in Edinburgh we have the co-incidence (?) of the Scottish Executive’s “Homecoming” and The Clan Convention as part thereof. This event will be a reflection of the will of The Standing Council of Clan Chiefs.
The Homecoming is purely commercial. The second is likely to be the echo of the outcome of the 1973 International Clan Gathering referred to earlier. The Convention is also God’s Gift of Holy Spirit as Kairos --- the mustard seed of Scotia. Not as an earthly “world power” as man’s ego would have it, but as global servant of humanity!
The first paragraph of the Constitution of The Standing Council of Clan Chiefs is simply stated as “to represent Scottish Chiefs and to assert their rights in relation to their Clansmen and others”. Who might these “others” be? Should a leader beloved of the entire family need to assert her or his rights? This clause is fear writ large. The purpose of the Clan Convention is to “discuss the role of the Clan in the 21st century”. Where, how, whether and when is the voice of the Clans Woman, Man and Child to be heard?
No voice of the people -- no Clan - - no leader, no chief, only earthly rulership – by whom or what? The necessary focus is not the person and will of “chiefs” jointly or severally, but the discharge of the office of leadership. Upon this commission all are Judged. Amen. Castles keep the perceived enemy out (for a while), they also make a prison for the Soul. A Royal Scot’s house is The Lord’s Home.
Of House and Home.
The flesh is my house
Spirit is My Home.
Therefore let me be at Home –
Upon the earth.

8 The UK political Perspective
Presently Scotland and England are “joined at the lower back”. Therefore we cannot look each other in the face. We only feel each other’s movements which cause us discomfort or is it pain? Why is this? What is our super-ordinate need? Surely it is to be Spiritually free in order that we may look each other in the I and shake hands as our joint first step to our common Destiny as a re-United not Kingdom, but Monarchy! The proposed exclusion of Scottish MPs from House of Commons votes on purely English issues is a profound step in the forthcoming temporal break between our two nations.
Is The House of Lords also The Lord’s House?
The recent exclusion of the invited Dutch parliamentarian from The House speaks volumes. He simply wanted the House to debate an issue graphically presented. Have you seen the DVD? Is the Lord kept waiting at the door of His own House?
Lord Brown recent past Chairman of BP and one of your peers had almost completed his personal ambition of merging BP and Shell to create the largest corporation on the planet. He was known within BP as “The Sun God”. He who would vie with The Son of Man for world dominion. A present day would be Lord of The (British) Isles! His deception was cut short by the disclosure of his lifestyle you will recall. Jonathan Porritt advisor to the Blair government on environmental affairs runs “Forum for the Future” a think tank with many corporate members of which BP is the first mentioned. The question therefore arises – is there a future for the Forum? Indeed for humanity?
Are The Lords Spiritual also Spiritual Lords? Are they our Lord Jesus servants?
You are the opposition spokesman for Scotland. This role should be the expression of all the people as to the unjust state of the nation, as distinct from the fledgling nation state of Scotland. This is directly analogous to the relationship between the Clans women and men and the Chief. Kings of old in Alba were subject to election. Members of the second House in the Westminster Parliament will also be elected by the people. Election will once again be the basis of selection of the future Scottish Monarchy. I do not speak of secular monarchy.
This fundamental characteristic of democracy will be introduced firstly as the Blessing of the Scottish Clans as the exemplar for Government and civic community. Chiefs will be given to consider their position in the role of Clan Chief or Leader.
As Opposition Spokesman, to what or Whom are you opposed?
9. Conclusion
This is left to the wisdom of George Buchanan, James 6th tutor. A priest is understood to have dismissed George’s Witness, of and as Truth. There is no candle with a black flame which can extinguish The Light in an apparently pitch black prison cell. Indeed there is no such thing as a black flame! Consider a small candle of Light in this same cell. Flesh is the scabbard, Holy Spirit the Sword, Death the Prize.
My dictionary defines “stoic” as the philosophy which regards virtue as the greatest good and advocates the control of (negative) feelings and passions. It defines “virtue” as moral excellence. The motto of Clan McLean is “Virtue Mine Honour”. This Clan will learn this lesson through the Vengeance of our Lord Jesus Christ – in no uncertain terms! “I come not to bring peace (initially) but the Sword” Amen.
George speaks of “natural law” as the basis of The Blessing of nations through the virtuous Monarch elected by the people. The Clans will also learn this lesson. Natural Law is not the law of base humanity. Therefore our Creator, The Lord Jesus Christ is now manifesting as Natural Law to correct the course of human Spiritual Destiny. There is no such thing as evolution – this is an illusion of the perceived black flame of Mephistopheles, the arch deceiver. Arch deceit is such that the deceived party whether an individual or all global community has no awareness of the deceit either during the act thereof or at any time thereafter. Prior to the likelihood of exposure to Mephistopheles our only course of action is in Jesus Name – to pray on our knees for His Gift of Grace alone. Thereafter is too late! “Choose ye this day – this moment -- whom you will serve.” Amen.
George’s Witness is the text of the last page of his philosophical dialogue “George Buchanan’s Law of Kingship” entitled “The Stoic King” from Seneca Thyestes , 344-390
You will notice the reference to Scythia which resonates with The Declaration of Arbroath. And Princess Scota. Myth for sure. Is not humanity but a Dream in The Mind of God?
What if ------ ?
“The Stoic King*”
Neither worldly wealth nor robes of Tyrian purple make a king, not a crown upon a princely brow, nor halls gilded with gold. A king is one who has laid aside fear and the torments of an evil conscience, who is not moved by uncontrolled ambition and the fickle favour of the reckless mob, or by all the treasure mined in the west or the golden waves that sweep down Tagus’ glittering bed, or all the grain threshed on the burning Libyan plain.
He is one who is not shaken by the hurtling path of a slanting thunderbolt, or by the east wind harrying the sea, or the violent waves of the raging Adriatic’s windswept swell; who is not subdued by the warriors lance or an unsheathed sword; who removed from harm’s way sees everything before him and gladly hastens to meet his fate, grieving not to die.
Although kings may assemble who torment the scattered tribes of Scythia, who hold sway by the shore of the Red Sea with its blood red waves sparkling with jewels, who defend the Caspian pass from bold Sarmations; though he vies with one whose feet dare tread the ice bound Danube and they (wherever they are) who caste down the silk farms of the noble Chinese – it is a noble mind that makes a Kingdom. There is no need for horses or arms or the cowardly darts the Parthian hurls from afar as he pretends to flee; no need of war machines hurling rocks to flatten cities. A King is he who fears nothing, [ a King is He Who desires nothing.]
Such a Kingdom each man gives ( --- to) himself Amen.

The historical text ends at the word “himself”. The dotted “pause” has been added together with the word “--- to” and the “Amen”. The latter throughout this epistle having the meaning – Jesus Will Be. The last line has also been separated from the body of the text. Thus the context is changed from temporal to Cosmos as Identity. Amen. This Kingdom is not taken – by force. It is Gifted. Amen.
This Witness by George Buchanan merits much reflection, but not in the intellect which only sees itself in the mirror of darkness. He speaks of “natural law”as the bedrock of true Kingship. This expression is profound in its depth. See www.wikipedia.org.
There is no such thing as temporal Enlightenment. Thus “The Scottish Enlightenment” of Hume, Smith, Locke etc is self-contradictory. The word “philosophy” when expanded into “philo-sophia”, love of Sophia , as Biblical Wisdom is the only Enlightenment. All else is but a walking shadow. We turn to Robert Burns and the last line of his address “The Rights of Women” which reads “Ah ca ira, the Majesty of Women”. This is not a feminist work.

Appendix.
Personal Details.
Aged sixty two. Married with to sons one in the police, the other a pilot. Mugdock Castle was my stomping ground as a teenager. I was entirely ignorant of its significance at that time. I have only learned of Clan Graham and of the first Marquis in the past week.
I was an Elder in The Church (temporal) of Scotland for eight years until about eight years ago. I was Blessed with the leadership of Parish Outreach each Christmas. My recommendation was that we use the Name of Jesus when knocking at the doors in the parish as it was His Birthday card we were leaving with the community with the details of the Christmas services. The eldership’s response was that we may cause offence, besides there may be some Muslim families in the parish. (South Edinburgh!) This was long before the lie of political correctness. Were a Muslim person from a Mosque to visit our door in this context I would congratulate her or him upon their commitment and zeal. The latter is a gift of Jesus our Lord, not to be mistaken for human will which can be corrupted. Amen.
I resigned the (not my) temporal Eldership as I subsequently experienced raw hatred from the majority of the Eldership. My position became untenable. The accurate statement is that the Eldership left the Christ that day. “If you are not ACTIVELY for Me, then in hatred or indifference you are actively against Me.”Indifference, not hatred being the anathema of Love. This (continuing) Witness is not made in judgement of anyone.
As Eldership is an Ordinance it is only set aside by Jesus. Therefore the saying “Once an Elder always an Elder” holds true. I remained an Elder, although not of The Church temporal of Scotland. Rather as an Elder in The Church in Scotland. I am now no longer an Elder.
